Latest Nissan News For Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
According to a recent article by Auto Express, Nissan will be spending more time and money reimagining and reinventing the interior designs of their vehicles over the next few years. The reason is two-fold: the approaching arrival of autonomous cars, which will not require traditional controls, and the growth in the electric vehicle segment.

In the interview, Mamoru Aoki, Nissan's Executive Design Director, said the brand's vehicle interiors will change dramatically with certain elements arriving as soon as the Nissan IMx electric compact SUV makes its debut in 2020. When Nissan unveiled the concept at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, it featured a retractable steering wheel, which speaks to the automaker's forward thinking.

And with autonomous vehicles expected to take the tedium out of daily commuting for motorists, more focus will need to be placed on the interiors of vehicles, versus the driving dynamics of the past. Occupants will more likely notice the quality and details found in the cabin and expect a heightened experience. As well, the advent of electric vehicles is allowing Nissan to break the mold. Without the need for bulky engines and exhaust systems, there is more opportunity to redesign vehicle interiors with a focus on simple shapes, higher caliber materials and passenger-centric cabins.

Knowing Nissan, it will only be a matter of time before they debut their innovative and industry-shaking designs. To learn more about how the automaker is changing how cars are powered, driven and integrated into society, contact our team at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington.
Yesterday at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nissan and NASA Ames Research Center announced the extension and expansion of their collaborative effort to advance autonomous driving services worldwide. The refreshed initiative will pull upon previous work to lead the companies into 2019.

The five-year R&D partnership has seen the two corporations team up to enhance shared technology. It birthed Nissan Seamless Autonomous Mobility (SAM), a platform for vehicle fleet management that was introduced at CES 2017 and has its origins in NASA research. With this latest phase official and announced, SAM is set to help organize self-driving transportation services ahead of public implementation testing.

On a broader scale, the extended collaboration will evolve the car industry and Nissan Intelligent Mobility, including its “Drive” and “Power” technologies. These include the automaker’s ProPILOT autonomous system and all-electric vehicles such as the upcoming 2018 LEAF. The former includes automatic lane centering as well as the ePedal, which enables operators to accelerate, stop, and go using only one input. The latter is the company’s zero-emissions EV boasting a new 150-mile range.

Nissan is staying busy this month. This week they’re showcasing at CES 2018, but they’re also taking a time out to reveal the future of mobility at the North American International Auto Show, set to run from January 13-28 in Detroit. You can view each of the currently released teasers below.

Part of Nissan’s “future of mobility” plan is connected to the recently announced Brain-to-Vehicle technology (B2V). It will be integrated into upcoming automobile systems as a device that reads your mind waves (really!) and operates the car on your behalf. This includes stopping, accelerating, braking, and more. The boon is that it can do all these functions roughly 0.2 to 0.5 seconds faster than a driver can manually.

Current mobility implementations will only continue to get better in the future. This includes the ProPILOT suite of technologies, including Advanced Driving Assistance. This has been integrated into cars such as the 2018 LEAF to measure the speed of surrounding vehicles and automatically adjust your distance to them. It also keeps you centered within a lane. Further, the e-Pedal system enables operators to speed up, slow down, and even stop completely using only the accelerator.

The future of mobility is almost upon us! Nissan is ready to wow the world this week with their appearance at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is scheduled to start today in Las Vegas. Occupying the stand at booth 5431, the manufacturer promises to highlight the following exciting advancements:

  1. Brain-to-Vehicle Technology. B2V is set to be integrated into future automobile systems. It assists with driving by learning from the operator, literally reading mind waves and taking actions on your behalf, such as accelerating or braking. It can perform these functions 0.2 to 0.5 seconds faster on average than you’d be able to do it yourself!

  2. The 2018 Nissan LEAF. This all-new, zero-emissions vehicle will lean on ProPILOT technologies to offer semi-autonomous driving. Additionally, the EV will feature an increased range of 150 miles on one charge, as well as improved power plant output of 147 HP and 236-lb.-ft. of torque.

  3. The Nissan IMx. This concept vehicle is poised to change the way you drive. It’s fully autonomous, enabling owners to select the “PD Mode” and kick back and relax. From there, the car hides the steering wheel, reclines the seats, and the computer takes over all functions. More details are unknown at this time, but that may change at the conference!

Get ready for a revolution in the way we interact with our automobiles, Ahead of their planned demonstration at the CES 2018 show in Las Vegas, Nissan has announced the latest breakthrough in their Intelligent Mobility initiative—Brain-to-Vehicle technology (B2V).

If it sees mass adoption in the future, B2V will change the way Seattle commutes. The system actually reads the owner’s mind, detecting when the driver is thinking of performing a movement (accelerating, braking, or turning the steering wheel) and automatically does that function for them. Also, when put into autonomous mode, the new advancement will also adjust the in-cabin environment by predicting discomfort and using augmented reality to deliver relaxation.

B2V is a world-first system. It works by having the driver wear a brain-wave measuring device. These detections are then analyzed and processed by autonomous technology within the car. This enables it to take actions on your behalf that are 0.2 to 0.5 seconds quicker than you’d be able to manage on your own.

It’s not a dream or a sci-fi plot, but rather the future of automotive technology. This week, Nissan is set to showcase its Brain-to-Vehicle (or B2V) technology at CES 2018 in Las Vegas, where the automaker will demonstrate new research that will one day allow vehicles to interpret signals from a driver’s brain.

B2V is also the latest development in Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which is the company’s vision for transforming how cars are driven, powered and integrated into society. The research is cutting-edge and wildly innovative by taking a deeper look into brain decoding technology as a way to predict a driver’s actions, like turning the steering wheel or pressing on the accelerator. It can also detect discomfort and change the driving configuration or style when in autonomous mode.

But, B2V doesn’t end there. Nissan also claims that the technology is capable of augmenting reality by adjusting a vehicle’s internal environment so that it’s more peaceful and relaxing. For Seattle area commuters, imagine being able to change your daily view of gridlock and brake lights into something beautiful, like a grassy meadow or white sand beach with turquoise waters. It seems unbelievable or something only possible on the big screen. But, with Nissan pioneering B2V, the future of driving is now.
