Nissan is set to compete in the all-electric ABB FIA Formula E racing championship later this year as it heads into its fifth season. And now, they know which of their drivers will be taking part.

NISMO driver Mitsunori Takaboshi will represent the brand at the Formula E rookie test. Winner of the 2017 Japan F3 Championship, he won a total of seven contests last year and held the fastest lap record in 11 of the 20 competitions he participated in. The celebrated professional fills the seat afforded to Nissan by Renault in order to help with race preparations.

The next year proves to be an exciting time for enthusiast all-electric fans in more ways than one. It also will bring the release of the 2019 LEAF NISMO, initially unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show 2017. Although details on its engine are scant, we know it’s likely to feature a highly aerodynamic red, black, and white body that’s enhanced by performance-based Continental summer tires. Its battery is also slated to be a 60 kWh variety that offers a whopping 225 miles of range.

Nissan announced today that they’re set to display 15 car models at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2018, running from Jan. 12 - 14. The event centers around the company’s dedication to the vast world of customization, as each vehicle will feature unannounced after-market parts. Due to their availability, of specific interest to Seattle and North American drivers will be the LEAF and GT-R NISMO variants.

The new Nissan LEAF concept was first unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show 2017, and powertrain details continue to be light. However, the 2019 model year car seems aimed at a fall 2018 North American release. It looks to adopt a black, white and red body that is imbued with NISMO technology for better aerodynamics. High-performance Continental summer tires will make an appearance, and the base battery is likely to ring in at roughly 60 kWh, good for more than 225 miles of range. Technologies from the 2018 MY will carry over, including the ability for drivers to accelerate, slow, and stop all via a single pedal (no brake usage necessary).

The new GT-R NISMO is all about wicked performance. It will bring with it the popular “V-Motion” front grille, a fresh hood cut for aerodynamics, redesigned side sills for increased airflow, and black RAYS forged-alloy wheels. Even more exciting is the motor. The supercar will feature a 3.8L, 600 HP engine easily capable of 481-lb.-ft. of torque.

Future of Seattle Intelligent Mobility to Be Shaped By Nissan and Expo 2020 Dubai

Earlier this month, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. revealed their intentions to join forces with Expo 2020 Dubai to push forward the future of autonomous driving machines.

Announced at the Expo 2020 Dubai’s Official Premier Partner event, the union is set to advance Intelligent Mobility with a new fleet of upcoming all-electric vehicles. The Japanese automaker will act as the Official Automotive Partner for the event that year, showcasing their technologies and pushing the adoption of efficient cars throughout the region.

The Expo 2020 Dubai Nissan fleet is set to feature the support of roughly 1,000 vehicles, both in preparation and delivery of the event. Trucks, buses, cars, and SUVs will all be used for the proceedings. Usage will vary but will include display purposes, VIP visits, participant and organizer transport, and construction needs.

Also at the Official Premier Partner event, Nissan unveiled the next-generation LEAF for Middle Eastern markets. The 2018 model will feature an efficient 40-kilowatt lithium-ion battery and a 150-mile range, as well as advanced technologies such as ProPILOT Assist for adaptive cruise control and single lane autonomous driving.

Call Kirkland Nissan in Seattle to learn about the LEAF or any of the manufacturer’s upcoming plans!

Only days ago, Nissan took to the roads of Tokyo in a public display of their design and engineering prowess. Piloting a prototype vehicle, the manufacturer showed off their most advanced autonomous driving system ever—and it’s scheduled for real-world deployment in Seattle and elsewhere in 2020.

Nissan’s next-generation ProPILOT technology builds upon the current system employed in the Nissan LEAF, X-Trail, Rogue, and Serena. The upcoming version, however, will go beyond simple single-lane autonomous driving. Instead, the new standard will enable such cruising on multi-lane urban streets and even highways.

Next-gen ProPILOT will ferry passengers automatically to their destination from start (when they enter the location in their navigation system) to finish, no matter the roads involved. It will manage this tremendous feat through the utilization of six laser scanners, nine millimeter-wave radars, 12 cameras and sonars each, and a high-definition map used to navigate through rapidly changing traffic patterns. Software optimizations will also allow for real-time adjustments to any obstacles in your path.

The future is arriving sooner than you think. Ring us at Kirkland Nissan today to discuss these exciting technological developments!
Nissan is upping the ante with their concept for the LEAF NISMO, a supercharged version of the all-electric vehicle that aims to thrill driving enthusiasts everywhere.

Revealed at Tokyo Motor Show 2017, details are still a bit light, but we’ve been able to glean some intriguing likely specs from the car’s appearance and Nissan’s official release. Tentatively slated for the 2019 model year with a delivery as early as fall 2018, this new LEAF will incorporate NISMO racing tech into its black, white and red body for greater aerodynamics and decreased lift. High-performance Continental summer tires will also be featured on the exterior.

The interior, which will boast aggressive red accents, brings its own technology aimed at making this a race-worthy EV. A new sport-tuned suspension distinguishes it from the regular 2018 LEAF, as does a specially-calibrated computer that aims to make instant acceleration at any speed a reality. Further, it seems likely that both a punchier motor and more advanced battery are in the works, the latter of which may provide approx. 60 kWh and a 225-mile range.
