Latest Nissan News For Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
Nissan GT-R fans, do we have some hair-raising footage for you! NISMO ambassador Marc Gené recently set a new track record at the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA) in Torrejón de Ardoz in Madrid.

Gené is revered as one of the most successful motorsport drivers in Spain, having participated in the 1998 Open by Nissan, Formula 1, and the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours Race in 2009. Nissan tasked him to beat the record at the challenging 1,756-meter INTA circuit, which he did not once, but three times in three different GT-R models – the GT-R R35, GT-R Track Edition, and GT-R NISMO.

With each run, Gené improved his time, starting with the GT-R R35 at a solid 1:06.93, then following up that performance with the GT-R Track Edition at 1:06.39 and the GT-R NISMO at a wicked 1:05.83. Sensational!

See for yourself:

Upon being proposed the challenge, Gené accepted with caution since the test track was one that he had never raced before. But it didn’t take long for the motorsport superstar to realize how well-suited the GT-R was for such a technical track, especially the NISMO. According to Gené, “It is a real racing car that you can drive on a daily basis. It has a spectacular suspension. When you drive it on the circuit, you can truly tell it has the Motorsport in its DNA.”

Seattle Anticipates Nissan’s Showcase of New LEAF and GT-R NISMO Cars

Nissan announced today that they’re set to display 15 car models at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2018, running from Jan. 12 - 14. The event centers around the company’s dedication to the vast world of customization, as each vehicle will feature unannounced after-market parts. Due to their availability, of specific interest to Seattle and North American drivers will be the LEAF and GT-R NISMO variants.

The new Nissan LEAF concept was first unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show 2017, and powertrain details continue to be light. However, the 2019 model year car seems aimed at a fall 2018 North American release. It looks to adopt a black, white and red body that is imbued with NISMO technology for better aerodynamics. High-performance Continental summer tires will make an appearance, and the base battery is likely to ring in at roughly 60 kWh, good for more than 225 miles of range. Technologies from the 2018 MY will carry over, including the ability for drivers to accelerate, slow, and stop all via a single pedal (no brake usage necessary).

The new GT-R NISMO is all about wicked performance. It will bring with it the popular “V-Motion” front grille, a fresh hood cut for aerodynamics, redesigned side sills for increased airflow, and black RAYS forged-alloy wheels. Even more exciting is the motor. The supercar will feature a 3.8L, 600 HP engine easily capable of 481-lb.-ft. of torque.

Ring us at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle now to hear more about either of these spectacular models!

Nissan values fan opinion and there are few things more fun than discussing the merits of the company’s many racing cars. Thus, the Japanese manufacturer launched the #NISMOtop20 competition, pitting their most brilliantly engineered vehicles against each other in the ultimate consumer vote. The result? The Skyline GT-R R32 took the crown.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 was put up against the Blancpain GT Series, the Bathurst 12 Hour, and the GT300-winning GT-R NISMO GT3; the Super GT 2014/15-winning GT-R NISMO GT500l and the 2003 JGTC-winning Skyline GT-R R34.

Aside from its famous inclusion in Sony PlayStation’s Gran Turismo video game series, the Skyline GT-R R32 has a long, distinguished history of excellence. Although Nissan only produced the vehicle for five years, it garnered highest honors across three continents. Of note is its Australian Touring Car victory in 1991 and 1992 with Bathurst 1000 victories both times. Even more fantastically, the racer took the top prize in each Japanese Touring Car Championship offered from 1990 through 1993.
