Earlier last year, the racy Nissan Leaf NISMO RC was unveiled at the annual NISMO Festival at the Fuji International Speedway in Japan – and now, North Americans will finally get a taste of the car's glory with its first appearance overseas. Next week, Nissan will have the Leaf NISMO RC on display at CES 2019, along with other all-electric platforms as part of their new vehicle introduction.Â

The first-generation Leaf NISMO RC was initially released in 2011, but this latest rendition builds upon the vehicle’s electric powertrain to provide even more power and torque. The second-gen model now boasts a motor on both the front and rear axle for all-wheel drive capabilities that create 322 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque. Power is generated from a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack, which is mounted in the middle of the car. Weighing in at only 2690 lbs, the Leaf NISMO RC sports a multitude of lightweight components and a carbon fiber body for 50 percent faster performance than the previous model. In just 3.4 seconds, this track star can reach speeds of 62 mph, which is incredible.
