Most Common Nissan Vehicle Questions In Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
new 2018 nissan sentra for sale in newcastle washingtonHi Robert,

I’ve been getting a burning smell from my 2018 Nissan Sentra’s brakes recently and it’s worrying me. Do you have any idea what could cause this?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi, Peter!

There are a few reasons your 2018 Nissan Sentra’s brakes could give off a burning smell. This may be down to a mechanical issue or the way you’re driving.

If a caliper has seized, it could cause one of the pistons to stick on and drag against the rotor. This creates extreme heat and is like driving with one of your brakes constantly applied.

It could be down to you braking very hard or often while you’re driving. This is especially something to consider if you regularly ride down steep hills and use the pedal to keep your vehicle at a steady speed.

Finally, one of the most common reasons you would get the smell of burning is if you’re riding the brake while driving. This happens more often when people leave their left foot hovering over the pedal, so be mindful of this.

new 2018 nissan rogue for sale in newcastle washingtonHi Robert,

My 2018 Nissan Rogue’s windows have been fogging up for the last few months. Apart from being dangerous, this is really annoying. How should I stop it from happening?

Thanks,
Anne

Hi, Anne!

As the warm humid air inside your 2018 Nissan Rogue hits the cool windows, it forms condensation. But it’s not something to worry about because there are several ways to stop it.

The easiest way to combat this problem is to use your car’s demister. This will engage the air-conditioner and blow a dry warm breeze on to the windscreen. The climate control system draws fresh air into the cabin

Something else you can do to prevent this is clean your windows. Oil, dust, and other contaminants build up on your glass over time which gives the water vapor more surface area to hold on to. This is an often overlooked but effective solution.

If you get rid of these contaminants, your car’s windows will take longer to fog up and also clear quicker when you use its demister.

new 2018 nissan leaf for sale in mill creek washingtonDear Robert,

I’ve been thinking about getting a 2018 Nissan LEAF, but my friend said their range is awful if the weather is cold: is he correct?

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi, Sandra!

To say the 2018 Nissan LEAF’s range is "awful" in cold weather is simply not true. However, harsh conditions can reduce its range somewhat.

When the temperature drops to freezing or below, a heater will turn on automatically to protect a few of the model's components. This unit is powered by the vehicle's battery so, unless the LEAF is charging at the time, it will consume some of its energy.

Cold temperatures can also affect your range while driving, as lithium-ion batteries don’t operate optimally when they get too cold or hot.

A test conducted during winter in Norway saw the 2018 LEAF travel 124 miles before depleting its battery. This means it achieved 80% of its EPA rated 151-mile range in some of the lowest temperatures you could ever drive in.

To summarize: although very low temperatures can reduce an electric vehicle’s range, the effects aren't too extreme.

new 2018 nissan kicks for sale in mill creek washingtonDear Robert,

I’ve noticed my 2018 Nissan Kicks’ brake pedal feels spongy and travels a lot further when I press it. My Father said the brake fluid is probably low; could this be the case?

Thanks,
John

Hi, John!

It’s hard to say what exactly is causing this issue with your 2018 Nissan Kicks, but it’s possible that your brake fluid is low.

Brake fluid is required to apply pressure to the calipers so, if it thins out, more force is needed to get the same effect.

The first reason your vehicle might be running low is that, just like pads and discs, old brake fluid thins out over time. So, if you haven't brought your car in for a service at the recommended intervals, this could be the problem.

The other reason this liquid may be low is that there is a leak somewhere in the system. This would be a very dangerous issue as you may set off one day without realizing that your brakes don’t work whatsoever.

Either way, I think you should take your Kicks into our Service Department and let the Technicians have a look at it.

new 2018 nissan rogue for sale in mill creek washingtonTo Robert,

My 2018 Nissan Rogue is taking longer than usual to start. I know engine problems relating to combustion are sometimes due to bad spark plugs: could this be the case?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi, Tony!

I’m sorry to hear you’re having problems with your 2018 Nissan Rogue; I can’t say what's going on for sure without inspecting your vehicle, but bad spark plugs definitely could cause this problem.

Spark plugs ignite the air/fuel mixture in your vehicle’s cylinder: this is what starts your car's engine and keeps it running.

As your plugs get older, the gap at the top of them widens which slows the spark down and makes it weaker. If this is the issue with your Rogue, it would result in a few extra churns to start its engine.

The problem is, a bad battery or starter could also cause this issue. So, it would be best for you to come down to our Service Department and let the Technicians determine what exactly is happening.

new 2018 nissan sentra for sale in mill creek washingtonHi Robert,

My 2018 Nissan Sentra’s windshield keeps freezing at night, and I'm sick of taking the ice off each morning. What’s the best way to prevent this from happening?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi, Joe!

Getting the ice off your 2018 Nissan Sentra’s windshield is a real pain; it’s not only annoying but some of the methods people use to clear the glass can actually damage it. Here are a few tips to prevent the car's windows from freezing in the first place.

If you rub half an onion on your windows before the temperature drops at night, it will stop frost forming on the glass. You could also spray a mixture of vinegar or alcohol and water to get the same effect.

You might want to pick up a night-before de-icer which can be found at practically any auto service shop. This works well and will produce the same effects as the methods mentioned above.

Don’t make the mistake of covering your windshield with newspaper, it’s too thin and can stick to the glass which causes an even bigger headache.

new 2019 nissan 370z for sale in mill creek washingtonDear Robert,

I’ve just picked up a 2019 Nissan 370Z and my friend suggested that I fit it with braided lines. Is this something I should consider? What would the benefits be?

Thanks,

Andy

Hi, Andy!

Congratulations on picking up the new 2019 Nissan 370Z, it’s a fantastic machine. Braided lines do offer some performance benefits over conventional hoses: let me explain.

The outer wall of a braided line is made from stainless steel which makes it more durable but also expensive. The standard hoses which come on most vehicles are rubber.

The inner wall of these hoses is comprised of Tefl, this means they expand a far less than their rubber counterparts. This translates to a firmer pedal with more feedback and, ultimately, better braking.

The other big advantage braided lines have over rubber ones is that they’re practically bulletproof. Although they could succumb to a pinprick leak, it’s quite rare.

The braking system on the 2019 370Z is already extremely good, so whether or not you feel the need to upgrade is entirely your choice.

new 2018 nissan sentra for sale in marysville kirkland washingtonDear Robert,

I recently had four new tires fitted to my 2018 Nissan Sentra. The thing is, they feel even less responsive than my old worn out tires: is this normal?

Thanks,
Frank

Hi, Frank!

It's really common for people to think they're having problems with their new rubber. But, I can assure you, there’s nothing wrong with the fresh tires or 2018 Nissan Sentra.

When tires come to the end of their life, they generally have very little tread left. Rubber in this condition is more responsive when turning and driving around sharp bends.

Your new tires will have a much deeper tread which needs to flex a bit more when turning; this is often described as a 'squirmy' feeling.

So, since your new rubber is flexing more through the bends, it will feel slightly less responsive than your old tires.

You were probably looking forward to sharper and improved handling, but this will come with time. All you need to do is take it easy for the first five hundred miles and performance levels will increase after that.

new 2018 nissan rogue sport for sale in marysville kirkland washingtonHi Robert,

I noticed a smell of gas coming from my 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport’s exhaust the other day. I've heard that this could be down to worn out spark plugs: am I correct in thinking this is the case?

Thanks,
Geoff

Hi, Geoff!

There are a few reasons a smell of gas could come from your 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport's exhaust, but it's definitely possible worn out spark plugs are the cause.

When plugs foul or wear out they produce a colder spark: the result is
incomplete combustion.

Since not all of the fuel is burnt in the combustion chamber, the excess raw gasoline escapes out of the exhaust. So, this could be what’s happening in your vehicle.

If this is the issue with your Rogue Sport, its fuel economy will be suffering and you should replace the spark plugs at your earliest convenience.

I can’t say that this is the problem with your car without inspecting it; so I’d advise you to call into our Service Department and let one of the Technicians have a look.

new 2018 nissan rogue for sale in marysville kirkland washingtonHi Robert,

Throughout winter my 2018 Nissan Rogue's tire pressure monitoring light has been turning on. It seems like the rubber has deflated but not by much. My father said it’s due to the cold weather: is he correct?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi, Michael!

Cold weather can cause your 2018 Nissan Rogue’s tires to deflate; with the way you have described it, this sounds like it's the most likely cause.

Regular tires will drop by about 1 PSI for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit the outside air temperature decreases.

So, if you’ve just done a relatively long drive or it’s a warm day when you pump some air in your rubber, you will lose a few PSI as the temperature drops on these wintery nights. This can definitely be enough to trigger your low tire pressure warning light.

Likewise, your tires will inflate by about 1 PSI for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit the temperature goes up. So you may see that warning light switch off throughout the day if your car is out in the sunlight.
