Interesting Nissan Facts For Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
Here's an important fact for you today, Tacoma and Kirkland residents! Nissan’s Altima has been sold more than 5.6 million times in its 25-year history. The start of the machine’s sixth generation—the 2019 Altima—is set to kick things into yet another gear.

The 2019 Altima is the first in the long line of sedans to offer Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. This isn’t your father’s AWD; instead, it’s constantly adapting to road conditions. It senses throttle position, vehicle speed, and wheel spin, all in real time, and then will divert up to 50% of available power as necessary in order to maximize performance. In less-than-optimal conditions (poor weather on harsh roads, for instance), traction and control are thereby enhanced.

Note that if you’re traveling under optimal conditions, the 2019 Altima’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive will send all power to the rear wheels in order to increase responsiveness and overall performance. Thus, no matter what the situation, you’ll be ready to meet it head-on.

It’s quite likely that you’re fond of the Nissan Altima and may even have one in your garage. But how much do you know about this venerable model?

Well, as it turns out, the Altima wasn’t even originally the “Altima,” if that makes sense. The name was first used as an identifier for the top trim of the Nissan Leopard line in Japan beginning in 1986. Later, it was applied to the Laurel mid-size vehicle sold in the Caribbean and Central America prior to 1992. It wasn’t until the Japanese Stanza car (a Nissan Bluebird clone) was replaced by the US-built Altima in 1992 for the 1993 model year that we finally saw the Altima as we know it today. It was initially built in Smyrna, Tennessee until June 2004, when manufacturing continued in Canton, Mississippi.

The ascent of the Altima has been swift. The third-generation model was named the North American Car of the Year in 2002, selling a then record-breaking number of 200,000 units that same year. Now, technologies in the 2019 Altima include zero-gravity seats, five-inch infotainment screens, Bluetooth connectivity, and more.

Express yourself, Kirkland! Really, there’s no need to hold back with the 2019 Nissan Kicks—no longer do you have to rely on walking into a dealership and picking solely from whatever exterior color and interior seat trim combination they offer. While there are a number of these options for the Kicks, if you opt for the online Color Studio, you can build your own almost exactly the way you like it.

As we mentioned, this is a lot more than choosing a single exterior paint color. You can now select how you want the accents to look on this compact and nimble machine. There are five gorgeous shades to select from—white, orange, red, blue, and black—and each can be combined with different parts to make your Kicks exceptionally unique.

You may customize the following: Wheel inserts, mirror caps, rear hatch accent, rear bumper accent, front lip finisher, door handle covers, rear roof spoiler, rearview mirror cover, lower door accent, door sill plates, air vent rings, and carpeted floor mats. Wow!

Hey, Kirkland! Interesting fact about the 2018 Nissan Kicks—it had a direct predecessor Indeed, you might consider the Kicks an almost-official “spiritual successor” or sequel to the Juke.

Here’s how it went down: In 2010, Nissan brought the visually interesting, positively spunky Juke to the market. It was a truly compact crossover that was curvaceous and loaded with some of the latest tricks and toys at the time. After a few models, however, it became clear to the Japanese automaker that it wasn’t the ultimate expression of what it wanted to achieve. They thus endeavored to make something greater but cut from a very similar cloth. The result was the bold, attractive, but still wonderfully compact and nimble 2018 Kicks. It boasted a bigger front fascia construction, lowered foglight versus the Juke, and the increasingly popular and signature new Nissan look, the V-Motion grille shape. The bumper is also thinner yet wider.

Of course, the Kicks has some extra pep in its step, too, although its focus is on fuel efficiency. Its 1.6L four-cylinder puts out 125 horses and 115-lb.-ft. of torque, all while easily achieving an EPA-estimated 31 city / 36 highway average MPG. It sports 25.3 cubic feet of cargo area in its standard configuration but can accommodate up to 53.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.

buy a nissan in kirklandDid you know that Nissan used to produce automobiles for other brands? It’s true!

Back in 1934 when Nissan was still known as “Datsun,” the automaker began to build the Austin 7 under license with the Austin Motor Company. This early partnership would represent the greatest overseas licensing success of Austin’s 7 and was the beginning of Datsun’s international renown.

Later, in 1952, Nissan would enter into a separate legal agreement with Austin to assemble 2,000 of their machines from imported partially assembled sets for sale in Japan under the Austin branding. The partnership required Nissan to make all the necessary parts locally in three years; the company met that obligation easily. All told, Nissan produced Austins for seven years, during which time they had the rights to Austin patents. It was these patents that would bolster the development of the Datsun line of cars.

Although Austin itself still built their own cars for some time, by 1955, the Austin A50 was entirely manufactured by Nissan and marketed by the company in Japan with a 1489 engine. In total, Nissan would make 20,855 Austins from 1953 to 1959.

buy a nissan in kirkland washingtonDid you know that Nissan Motor Company wasn’t always known as “Nissan?” It’s true! Buckle yourself in because we’re about to cover quite a bit of history.

Nissan was really the result of the merger of a number of automakers. It all began in 1914 when Kenjiro Den, Rokuro Aoyama and Meitaro Takeuchi at Kwaishinsha Co. decided to build a passenger vehicle. Using the first letter of their last names, they named the 10-HP engine that powered the machine “DAT.” This word means “agile” or “lively” in Japanese—take note of this for later!

Also in 1914, Kwaishinsha Co. merged with the Lila Company. Then, five years later in 1919, three-wheeled-car producer Jitsuyo Jidosha Co. merged with the aforementioned entities, forming Dat Jidosha Seizo Co. And when in 1931 that company partnered with Tobata Casting Company to make Datson passenger cars (literally “son”
of “DAT”), it wasn’t long before the moniker was altered to Datsun to represent the national symbol of Japan (the sun). For some of you older folk, you’ll remember Datsun cars well!

The final turn was when Tobata Casting teamed up with another manufacturer, Nihon Sanyo. This produced the Jidosha Seizo Company which was renamed “Nissan Motors” on June 1, 1934.

2017 nissan gt-r premium for sale in kirkland washingtonIf you are a fan of video games, then you have probably heard of Gran Turismo. Back in 2017, PS4 released the Sport edition, and Nissan was thrilled about it. They were so happy that they decided to hook up the 2017 GT-R to an official DualShock 4 controller and drive it around a track.

The company brought in Jann Mardenborough, an experienced player, GT Academy winner, and Nismo athlete, to handle this racecar robot. With a helicopter capturing the run overhead, this impressive ride averaged 76 mph and hit a top speed of 131 mph. For safety purposes, two independent systems were put in place to cut the engine and apply full ABS braking in the event of interference from other radio frequencies.

This slick sports car underwent major modifications for this experiment. On the consumer end, the 2017 Nissan GT-R Premium has also received a bit of a facelift. A restyled dashboard and larger touchscreen make navigating through your entertainment options much easier. Shift paddles have been repositioned from the steering column to the actual wheel, and enhanced sound absorption makes for a quieter trip down the highway.
