Latest Nissan News For Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
Back in 2003, Nissan Design Europe opened their doors in London following the repurposing of a graffiti-covered transport depot. Despite that rather inauspicious start, the studio has become a world-class innovation hub that’s pleased to start its 15th year in operation at its current home. Moreover, it’s celebrating the fact that it’s been responsible for some of the Japanese automaker’s most progressive and popular car models.

Nissan Design Europe’s prowess over the past decade and a half has been primarily exhibited through the manufacturer’s crossovers. The studio first birthed the Qashqai concept in 2003, which later gave way to the “little brother,” the Juke. However, of interest to 2018 model year shoppers is the way that latter vehicle has led to the introduction of the fantastic new Kicks SUV.

The 2018 Kicks benefits from the dual focus on practicality and emotion that highlighted many of Nissan Design Europe’s creations, including the Juke. The new vehicle offers a sensational floating roof aesthetic and positively aggressive boomerang-shaped front and rear LED lamps. Additionally, the signature V-Motion grille exudes all the style and character customers have come to expect in recent years.

However, the
Kicks also boasts the practicality of fine engineering—namely, a 1.6L four-cylinder that cranks out 125 HP and 115-lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is also fantastic at an average of 33 MPG combined, and operation is smooth sailing thanks to the Xtronic continuously variable transmission.

Ring us at Kirkland Nissan at your convenience to discuss the upcoming Kicks, on sale this June!
buy a new nissan leaf in seattle washingtonNow the folks at Kirkland Nissan usually don't like to boast. Okay, maybe we do a little. But in the wake of recent news it’s hard not to; the upcoming 2019 LEAF handily beats the Tesla Model 3!

With a range of 225 MPC, the new LEAF surpasses the Model 3 by 5 miles. And that’s just the beginning of this vehicle’s strong points; at a full $5,000 less than its Tesla counterpart, this EV is a cost-efficient option for those wanting to make the big shift to environmentally-conscious driving.

But wait, there’s more! With the latest in ProPilot Assist technology, the 2019 Nissan LEAF is able to enhance your driving ability and keep you out of harm’s way around the clock. With the ability to monitor sudden changes in your environment, this vehicle realigns lane postioning if you stray, look out for unexpected pedestrians then apply the brakes (before you even notice what’s happening), and give you a 360° view of what’s around you while you park.

It’s difficult to fit the LEAF’s exhaustive list of exciting features into one blog post— contact Kirkland Nissan today to learn all the different ways this vehicle has been besting its competition since 2011.

buy a new nissan versa sedan in seattle washingtonIn an article by Kelley Blue Book, the new Versa Sedan was named "the least expensive new car available in the United States". But what qualifications must a vehicle meet to reach this status and still perform? Besides being cost-efficient, it also needs to deliver on a myriad of features like mileage, storage, and performance— which is not an easy task for most. Luckily for you, this Nissan leaps over all the usual hurdles with class-leading mastery.

Framed by a 1.6-L 4 cylinder engine capable of 109 HP, the Versa has a modest but functional amount of power that’s perfect for any urban commute. In conjunction with its
2,404-pound frame, the calmly beating heart of this vehicle is capable of an astounding combined 34 mpg. And with a curb-to-curb turning diameter of 35 feet, expect to slip through congested city streets with very little resistance.

Never judge a book by its cover; the 2018 Nissan Versa Sedan’s
102-inch wheelbase allows for a remarkably spacious 37 inches of rear seat legroom. And with 15 cubic feet of trunk volume, finally going on that trip to the Cascade Range in a compact will be —believe it or not— a legitimate possibility!

Seattle, World Take Note As Nissan Xmotion Wins Innovative Design Award at 2018 NAIAS

Hot on the heels of the LEAF’s FIPA Green Car of the Year honors today comes the announcement that the Nissan Xmotion has garnered its own acclaim. The concept has claimed the "Innovative Use of Color, Graphics or Materials" award at the 2018 North American International Auto Show. This marks the second consecutive time that the manufacturer has nabbed the commendation.

The innovation award comes courtesy of EyesOn Design. It was given to the Xmotion concept in part because of its deft incorporation of hues. Prominently featured on the exterior is a special silver that was created to resemble pewter, a malleable metal often used in Japanese handicrafts. On the interior, red and white were integrated to represent the country’s national colors. Additionally, black was put in to reflect modernity and the advance of technology, as were Nishijin-weave carbon-fiber accents.

It’s not just color, however. The innovative design award was also presented due to Xmotion’s dedication to new user interfaces. The concept pushes the boundaries of modern technology by introducing fresh ways for the driver to control the crossover, including gestures, voice commands, and eye movements. It’s something far beyond what’s seen in current SUVs such as the Pathfinder.

Ring us at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle today to get fully briefed on the Xmotion concept! We also encourage you to peruse our current lineup of crossovers.

Seattle Looks on As Nissan LEAF Nabs 2018 FIPA Green Car of the Year Honors

What a huge week it’s been for Nissan. The Japanese manufacturer just revealed their tremendous Xmotion crossover concept yesterday, and now their all-electric LEAF EV has been named the “2018 FIPA Green Car of the Year” at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show.

The distinction comes courtesy of the Inter-American Federation of Automobile Journalists (FIPA) and puts the 2018 LEAF in high regard, scoring the zero-emissions vehicle higher than all nine other award candidates. The announcement comes on the heels of the "2016 4-Wheel Drive Electric Car of the Year” honor that the previous generation EV secured.

Nissan’s LEAF recently reached the 300,000-units-sold milestone and the 2018 version seems poised to add tremendously to that number. The next-generation car, due for North American release in mere months, offers a new battery that provides a 150-mile driving range. This increases the outgoing capacity by 43. Further, the motor generates 147 HP and 236-lb.-ft. of torque, while fuel efficiency is outstanding at an MPGe of 124 city / 101 highway.

Nissan’s Xmotion Concept Sparks Imagination of Seattle Residents

Revealed yesterday at Detroit’s 2018 North American International Auto Show, the Nissan Xmotion concept is a spirited design exploration of everything the future of SUVs can hold for Seattleites and global citizens. It fuses American-centric style with traditional Japanese culture for something altogether different, as is readily apparent when you examine its breathtaking exterior.

Nissan remarks that the refreshed “boomerang” headlights go a step further in aggressiveness on the Xmotion concept, now resembling “forged steel blades" unlike anything seen on, say, the Murano. Cool, right? But there’s also a functional side to this—the lamps are integrated smartly into a single piece, offering turn signals, positional units, and both high and low beams all in one place. Further, the color and intensity alter depending on conditions.

The rear of the Xmotion is similarly inspired. The details are taken from the warmth of kumiko (Japanese puzzles and woodwork). When the taillights are on, blocks will appear that are created by a holographic image—effectively, an optical illusion that oozes progressive style. And on the sides of the crossover, the U-shaped body provides an unbroken visual wave that undulates from front to back.

There’s much to get excited about. Ring us at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle today to discuss the advancements of the Xmotion concept! Also, don’t hesitate to browse our current selection of fantastic SUVs.
Yesterday, Nissan unveiled a brand new concept vehicle at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, called the Xmotion (pronounced “cross-motion”). And just 24 hours later, the six-passenger three-row crossover SUV is already receiving rave reviews for its sleek exterior lines and sharp angles, as well as its unique interior, which blends touchscreen displays, innovative control mechanisms, and a futuristic look that’s clean, modern, and expressive.

According to Nissan, the Xmotion concept fuses Japanese culture and traditional craftsmanship with American-styling and next-generation Intelligent Mobility technology. The exterior features a dynamic presence with an understated sculptural body, which includes prominently flared fenders, wedge-shaped headlights, and a bold evolution of Nissan’s iconic V-motion grille. It’s an expression of dramatic simplicity, which is wonderfully contrasted by the rugged metal-crafted wheels and all-terrain tire design. Some automotive journalists have likened the concept vehicle to that of a futuristic version of the cult-classic Nissan Xterra, which they claim is a good thing.

And while the exterior of the Xmotion is incredibly interesting, the interior of this concept vehicle is what’s truly astounding. Inside, it features a crafted design that pays homage to Nissan’s roots by combining a symbolic representation of a Japanese landscape with an advanced user interface and autonomous driving technologies.

This includes a digital assistant that’s personified as a virtual koi fish on the in-car displays. It swims between the console and a middle-mounted armrest touchscreen, and can intelligently program interior cabin conditions based on the destination and user preferences. The virtual koi also assists the Xmotion when in autonomous mode, providing key information about the current route and potential slowdowns, while also handling driving duties.

As for what’s under the hood, Nissan didn’t specify powertrain specs since the Xmotion is an expression of design and technology, versus power and performance. And seeing that it is a concept vehicle, it isn’t intended for production, however, many industry watchers expect that the Xmotion's design cues may find their way to future Nissan SUVs, like the rumored Xterra. Time will be the judge of that.

buy a new nissan pathfinder in seattle washingtonInterior versatility is a must these days; Seattleites need their space so they can move their things (and themselves) around. Transit can only take us so far! With the new 2018 Pathfinder and its various cargo and seating capabilities, however, stress-inducing games of trunk Tetris may finally be coming to a well-earned close.

Let’s say you’re coming up to your car with an armful of baked goods for the family reunion. You have two options. You could put them down on the ground and risk throwing out your back (again), or kick your foot under the rear bumper and let the hands-free access system pop it open for you. Okay, but let’s say that your siblings are avid bikers; with folding second and third-row seats, an astounding 80 cubic feet of space can hold even more than just a couple cycles.

With a second row that’s able to slide up to 5 inches, the 2018 Pathfinder can create the perfect amount of legroom for friends in the back— so losing shotgun won’t be so bad anymore. With latch and glide technology, the right side of the bench can be pressed up against the passenger to allow easy access to the rear, as well as a safe little nook for a child seat.

New Nissan Xmotion Concept Could Offer Seattle Amazing Interior Design

Today, Nissan took the wraps off their incredible new Xmotion crossover concept at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The forward-thinking compact SUV offers an amazing fusion of Japanese and American craftsmanship on the interior, and we’d be remiss not to detail it in full.

The cabin was built based on the imagery of a river. The center console area acts as the “bridge” over it, offering the allure of the Japanese architectural wood joinery practice,
kanawa tsugi, which is most often featured in religious shrines of that country. The Xmotion’s instrument panel continues that design in what Nissan considers a “robust bone structure” that exudes strength. It's something wholly different than what you see in today's Rogue, for example.

More concretely, there’s a ton of technology to appreciate in the Xmotion concept. There are seven total displays throughout the dash that offer vehicle settings and information. Notably, each can be controlled through voice commands, gestures, and even eye movements—quite the user interface revolution! There’s also a “digital room mirror” on the ceiling that Nissan has yet to expound upon in detail.

Exciting times lie ahead for this automaker. Call us at Kirkland Nissan to hear more about the
Xmotion’s interior design! In the interim, check out our currently available SUVs.

Nissan Wows Seattle, World With New Xmotion Concept

Pick your jaws up off the floor, America! Nissan today unveiled their new Xmotion SUV concept at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and dang, does it look poised to change the crossover game.

Pronounced “
cross motion,” the concept is a six-passenger, three-row SUV with a burly American aesthetic and utility merged with a more nuanced Japanese design sensibility and beauty. Essentially, you’re getting the best of both worlds, inside and out. There’s a lot to digest, so in this post we’ll zero in on the exterior.

The outside of the Xmotion concept is a signal as to the future of Nissan design. It’s dynamic, with the now-signature front grille but also a set of standout U-shaped headlamps and a strong overall stance. All-terrain tires are included alongside a stern, metal-crafted wheel aesthetic. They are mechanical tool-inspired with a tread that’s actually laminated over the 21-inch aluminum alloy rim structure--imagine if your Pathfinder had that! Additionally, the taillight look pulls from traditional Japanese woodwork, while a retractable “rooftop box” appears positively stunning.

Stay tuned for more on the new Xmotion concept courtesy of us here at Kirkland Nissan, including an examination of the interior! Also, don't hesitate to check out our existing line of crossovers!
